 Boat Handling March 2010

Club TrainingWell 4 of us headed of on a Friday night down to Swansea for a weekend on the rya power boating level 2 course, The course had been arrange with the Cwmtawe BSAC club and was being run by John Morgan, The 1st day was all classroom based and when through the basic aspect of boat handing, safety and chart work. After a day in the classroom everyone was looking forward to the 2nd day getting out on the ribs after a go on the controls we started with the import things like man over board drills, mooring the boat and 3 point turns as well as high speed u turns and figure of 8 turns. Apart form a couple of near misses for a certain someone who will remain nameless everyone passed the course and now can’t wait to get the club boat back on the water. Big thanks to Pete for arranging to course and thanks to John and the rest of the people from Cwmtawe for running the course.

 RYA Boat Handling Course 2010

Club Trainingpedro writes "A boat handling course will be taking place in feb/March 2010, the exact date yet to be arrange. The course will teach you the basic boat handling techniques you need to skipper a diving RIB. The course is reconised by BSAC which will come in handy for your diving qualifications.

The venue will be Swansea and it is to be held over two days, the two days being a Saturday and Sunday.

I would encourage all club members regardless of diving qualification to consider this course, it is a great weekend and a great set of skills to obtain and enjoy.

The price of the course is £90 per person. In addition to this accomadation, travel and food need to be considerd. Once I have numbers I can start to look at accomadation, I do have some contacts in Swansea so it should be cheap.

To book a place or ask a question please call me

 ERD Course

Club Trainingpedro writes "
After a long journey down the M5 I arrived at Chepstow NDC for a weekend of extended range divng instruction. With the instructors being Jack Ingle and Andy Hyat I was eyes and  ears open and looking forward to the next few days.

The  Extended Range Diving course is about giving you the skills to dive deeper for longer on air using different mixed gases for excellerated deco and the use of twin sets and stage cylinders. Along with correct dive planning and effects and dangers of deep diving.

With day one starting with a session on kit configuration straight away my attitude to what I was wearing, how I was wearing it and how I was using it was completely transformed and that was only the first two hours.

 Advanced Nitrox Course

Club TrainingWell let me say (on behalf of everyone) a big thanks to Pete for arranging this event and picking such a knowledgeable instructor. The weekend started with a day of lectures round Tim and Sue's from our instructor Jack Ingle who has a great knowledge of diving and his knowledge of nitrox is second to none as he wrote the book!!!! After mastering the nitrox tables and understanding the new risk and benefit it can bring to diving everyone passed the theory paper. Our mammoth day of lectures over we were ready for the cove.

 Advanced Nitrox course

Club Trainingpedro writes "I'm looking at organising an Advanced Nitrox course some time in 2009.
The course will be open to all club members qualified to Sports diver and above. The date is yet to be arranged as is the location, at the moment I'm just putting the feelers out to judge what sort of interest we have in such a course. The two days will consist of a day of theory training and a secound  day of  practicle sessions and dives. I have asked a guy called Jack Ingle if he would run the event for us and he was more than happy. he's the technicle diving advisor for BSAC so he knows his stuff and it's backed up with plenty of diving experience. The price will be a maximum of £250 per person which will include all course notes, books, diving and registration, dependant on numbers the price may come down.

Please feel free to contact me with any queries or questions and hopefully we can drum up enough people to run the event.

Pete Nicholls"
